Loans and consultations
Print works locally stored in UCSC libraries may be requested for:
- loan (the book can be held for a prolonged period, according to the user's type)
- consultation (the book can be used inside the campus only on the day the user receives it, returning it within the closing time of the library that stores it)
Some works are generally excluded from loan: periodicals, reference works and sources for the various subject areas, course adopted books, national editions of the classics, in-folio volumes, rare or precious works and those published before 1900.

Request procedure
Requests must be submitted via the UCSC OPAC, accessible from any pc, tablet or smartphone connected to the Internet:
- desktop version, at https://opac.unicatt.it/search*eng
- mobile version, at https://mobile.opac.unicatt.it/*eng
After you find the title that you are interested in:
- click on the "Request" button close to its title or inside the bibliographic record. If this button is missing and the words "SCAFFALE APERTO - Consultazione in Loco" (i.e. "OPEN SHELF - Short loan") are displayed, it means the item is only available for consultation within the day, and you have to request it in person at the library that holds it
- choose the copy to be requested from those indicated as available
- choose the pick-up point from those indicated as available
- if not already done previously, proceed to authenticate on the automatically opened login page, using the UCSC nominal account (more info: How to authenticate for Library services)
- click the "Submit" button to send your request
- wait for the arrival of the confirmation e-mail with the message "Ritirare il volume presso …". In any case, before going to the distribution points, check in the My Library personal area that the availability of the requested volume is indicated (if the requester has chosen self-service pick-up at Library Box, he will receive an e-mail notification containing the code to be used to open the slot reserved for him)
UCSC inter-campus service
A special service also allows to request books, articles photocopies or parts of volumes which, after a search in the UCSC OPAC, are only held in a UCSC Library other than your own:
