Services for students
UCSC students and graduating students have a wide range of library services designed to facilitate their studying and research.
Services through My Library login |
Logging in as registered user to your My Library personal area, you can:
check and manage your personal data, as:
- your account
- books return date
- loan/consultation request status
- library privileges suspension
- a list of all your previous loan/consultation requests ("My reading history" function)
- your personal rating of checked out books ("My ratings" function)
use UCSC OPAC more easily, by:
- requesting books from any personal computer or device with internet access
- requesting more books without repeating your authentication
- saving searches previously performed as "preferred searches", to be reused at any time to check the availability of works about your favorite subject areas
- real-time information (using the RSS "My feeds") about the status of your submitted loan/consultation requests and on loan volumes

Services of bibliographic assistance and bibliographic advice are provided in presence (through in-person interviews between users and expert librarian) or remotely (with communications via your iCatt page or personal e-mail).

UCSC Library System users may also access electronic resources via computers outside of the campus.

RefWorks (reference management software) |
UCSC OPAC includes internal links to RefWorks website (ProQuest publisher), in wich is available a software that allows UCSC users to:

create and manage a bibliographic citations personal archive, importing them from a text file or uploading them directly from online databases

retrieve from your personal archive bibliographic citations already saved (via a simple or advanced search, or by scrolling through list by author, subject, title)

insert bibliographical citations into their own article, with a simple click while typing

produce their own bibliography in the favorite text format, using Write-n-cite

UCSC students and graduating students may suggest to the office in charge at each UCSC library the acquisition of monographs which they consider particularly valuable to enrich UCSC Library System collections.
