_______________

OCLC Research is the research center of the broader librarian cooperative organization of the world: since 1978 works to promote the spread of advanced and efficient services in the academic libraries, increasing the value and usability for users.

The UCSC Library System - the first among the southern European research libraries - the beginning of 2016 adheres to the partnership with other 170 institutions from twelve countries of the world, accessing international alliance that allows to collaboratively explore the opportunities of technological innovation for the constant updating of library services in support of teaching and research on UCSC campuses.

As a first step in the partnership, the UCSC Milan campus Library contributes to international research project:

Digital Visitors and Residents: What motivates Engagement with the Digital Information Environment?

initiated to investigate the ways in which students and researchers use every day different tools and services made available by the new information technologies.

The data, collected with English interviews from a sample of users of the Library, first will be coded manually and then processed through qualitative analysis software NVivo. This will make it possible to extract valuable elements for a deeper understanding of the habits and needs of different types of users, acquiring the necessary information for the design and implementation of more and more updated and effective library services.
