The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan today announces that they will be offering Yewno Discover, a powerful research tool powered by artificial intelligence, free of charge to all of Italy through the end of August. The initiative is part of UCSC’s ongoing commitment to sharing knowledge.

Yewno Discover is a web-based research platform that helps students, researchers and lifelong learners perform meaningful research in a short amount of time. In a visual research environment, users search topics of interest, understand how those topics relate to other concepts, and access scholarly content. It works by ingesting and reading full-text content and storing that content in a knowledge graph which is presented in a graph format on the front end.  In a single session, users can learn what would otherwise require multiple hours of honing topics, locating resources, reading, processing and evaluating information.

The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore has been the first Italian University using Yewno Discover to optimize their library content and support student research. The University has added its own repository to the millions of books and articles stored in Yewno’s knowledge graph. They are offering Yewno Discover out of a deep commitment to sharing knowledge and resources.

Through Yewno Discover, UCSC students and researchers can access the full text of electronic resources, both books and journals, subscribed to by the Library. Students and researchers can access Yewno Discover off campus via the internet with their UCSC credentials.

Says Mario Gatti, Director of UCSC Milan Campus, «Knowledge is a common asset, and sharing our resources has always been part of our mission. The past few months have been challenging across the globe, particularly here in Italy. We’re sharing this tool because it inspires learning, and that’s really important right now. The fact that it’s a web-based tool is also convenient for those who are continuing to stay home and maintain social distance. You don’t have to go out to use it.»

«We see ourselves as partners in the research process» says Yewno COO, Ruth Pickering. «Yewno Discover is what we call augmented intelligence - it enables people to do all the learning they would if they had unlimited time to research and read. We take the heavy lifting out of research and leave more room for exploration. We are happy to partner with UCSC to offer this to Italians looking to use this time to learn more deeply».
