United Nations official records and periodicals
The Milan campus Library of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is one of the Italian depository libraries of the official UN publications.
The United Nations official records and periodicals collection was born thanks to professor in International law Giuseppe Biscottini, whose tenure at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore lasted from 1858 to 1984. Since 17th April 1969 the Library, thanks to this collection, has become part of the United Nations System of depository libraries, whose aim is to allow access to United Nations documents and periodicals all over the world.
Since 1975 the collection has been hosted at the United Nations reference room on the same floor of the Political Science Department. After some refurbishing and cataloguing works done between 2016 and 2019, it was possible to retrieve bibliographic data, enrich the collection by cataloguing documents belonging to the League of Nations, and finally produce a digital visualization of the collection on shelves (which can be consulted on-line within the University network).
